This is going to be a very early morning email, as we have apparently dedicated the rest of the day to traveling from here to Guangzhou. That, and because I gave up watching one of the smaller boys fail to fish in the stream with a net. I’m glad to report that I shouldn’t have to endure the grave misfortune of shrivelling up into a prune as the heat only just exceeds the humidity. I report it gladly as I slip down the corridors wet like a dolphin.
I’m not sure that the murder of the man was indeed an overreaction, if I may say so on the house’s behalf. After all, by ruining the house’s Feng Sui, he had doomed everyone who crossed the threshold to some type of misfortune. Perhaps instead his death was a blessing, like a warning canary down a coal mine if you will.
The weirdest thing I saw was probably not that weird. I know, that surprised me too. Maybe the tiny weeny turtles in a basin being sold as pets, but, then again where did you think I got my turtles in Malaysia from? That, or the fact that none of the meat was sold on ice but on solid wooden tables. These people are fearless.
The bamboo shoots were insane. So sweet and so tender! I think the trick was to soak them for three hours. I’m afraid the shoots were located almost directly next to the burial site, but if your concern is the contamination you’ll have to refer to my previous email. That is, of course that the remains are secured within jars and behind concrete.
Rainbows and kisses and lucky charms,
